LENNY PICKETT
Musical Director/ Tenor Sax

Lenny Pickett joined SNL as a tenor sax soloist in 1985. He has played on every show since. Pickett was perhaps best known in his pre-SNL life as a member of the "Tower Of Power" horn section. His incredible saxaphone work have become the trademark of the SNL Band. Pickett was promoted to Musical Director in 1995, replacing G.E. Smith. In his 16th season at SNL, Lenny Pickett is SNL's musical director since the departure of Cheryl Hardwick.

LEWIS DEL GATTO
Baritone Sax/ Aranger

Lewis Del Gatto has returned to play his role in the SNL Band. In addition, Lewis is also continuing his role as the band's primary arranger and musical contractor.

Del Gatto is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, and has written and arranged a number of commercial jingles, including Ford, Coke, Pepsi, Folgers and Burger King

Lew's latest album, "Katewalk" (associate-produced by SNL Band alum George Young and featuring appearances by Randy Brecker and Steve Turre), is out in stores now.


ALEX FOSTER
Alto Sax

Alex Foster played alto saxophone in the SNL Band from 1985-1991. He then took a four year break while George Young took his place. Foster was invited back to SNL for the 1995-1996 season and has remained there since.

His recording credits have included his own album, Beginnings...Goodbye (1992) and such platinum records as Michael Bolton's The Hunger and Paul Simon's Graceland.


EARL GARDNER
Trumpet

EarL Gardner, the SNL Band's veteran trumpeter has been a member of many "non-SNL events" including, being a member of the Carnegie Hall Jazz Orchestra, the Mingus Big Band, and the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Big Band. He's also played with Count Basie, McCoy Tyner and Dizzy Gillespie.

He has recorded with Paul Simon, Laurie Anderson, Charlie Haden, and a recent Duke Ellington tribute album, Play On.


LUKASZ GOTTWALD
Guitar

Lukasz Gottwald was born on September 26, 1973. He attended Manhattan School of Music for two (2) years and then later joined the SNL Band.

Gottwald has played with Herbie Hancock, Michael Bolton, Phoebe Snow, Jack McDuff, Shabba Ranks.

CHRISTINE OHLMAN
Vocalist

Though Christine Ohlman is often not seen on camera with the band, she performs at many SNL tapings as featured vocalist, a position she has held for well over a decade.

Ohlman is lead vocalist for the group "Rebel Montez," and her most recent album for J-Bird Records is called "Wicked Time" ehich features ex-SNL Band player, Cheryl Hardwick on keyboards.


SHAWN PELTON
Drums

Shawn Pelton has been drumming for SNL for seven seasons. He's one of the first-call session drummers in New York, playing on albums by artists of many genres. He has appeared on Adam Sandler's They're All Gonna Laugh At You as well as for artists such as Joan Osborne, Edie Brickell, the Brecker Brothers, Taylor Barton and Generic Blondes.

STEVE TURRE
Trombone

A veteran of the "Art Blakey Jazz Messengers" and "The Woody Shaw and Rahsaan Roland Kirk Orchestras", Steve Turre has been with SNL since 1985. Only the second permanent trombone player in the band opposite Tom Malone. About two or three times a season he will play a conch shell on the show.

Turre has toured around the world with other trombone players he has personally trained to play shells; the group is called "Sanctifed Shells".

Steve Turre has recorded a number of albums for Verve and Antilles records playing both trombone and shells. His most recent album, Lotus Flower, was released in February 1999 on Verve Records.
