CALLIE'S EPISODE REVIEW
JANUARY
13, 2001
Charlie
Sheen/ Nelly Furtado
A MESSAGE
FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, DICK CHENEY
This sketch was hilarious. Darrell Hammond must have the
international face because everyone he portrays, he looks exactly
like them. He also does the best voices that I have ever heard.
Anyway, I thought that the only dumb thing about this sketch was
how Dick Cheney kept on 'dying'. That was stupid.
A
MONOLOGUE:
CHARLIE SHEEN
I wasn't surprised to see another Question & Answer monlogue.
However, this was good. Really good. I loved how Tracy Morgan
came out and bought the bag of weed. That was classic. I think
that Tracy Morgan needs more airtime, even though they did use
him a lot in this show.
A
FOX
COMMERCIAL PARODY
Talk about histarical. This was amazingly funny. It's about time SNL
slammed those stupid shows that the networks just keep putting up
against eachother. I loved 'Herpes Island' and 'Temptation
Trailer'. 'The Cannibal' was also good. I perticularly liked the
stuff that Will Ferrell was eating out of the arm.
A+
IRON CHEF
SKETCH
When I first watched this sketch on SNL, I thought to
myself "Is this every gonna end?" But last night, for
the first time, I saw 'Iron Chef' on the Food Network. Then, I
went back and watched this skit and realized that it was classic.
Chris Kattan was amazing in the sketch along with Horatio Sanz.
It was histarical.

ERIC
DICKERSON'S PRE-GAME SPECIAL
Tracy Morgan's first recurring character sketch. Ahh, yes. Go
Tracy!!! This sketch was one that had to grow on you. When I
first saw it, I didn't like it, but when I went back and watched
it, I got into it more. Jimmy Fallon's Dennis Miller impression
is classic. He looks just like him. Tracy did a great impression
of Eric Dickerson also.
B+
BOBBI &
MARTY MOHANN CULP
Oh, the best recurring characters since The Spartan Cheerleaders.
I have so much excitment whenever I see Will's piano sitting
there with the Ana's microphone stand next to it. This sketch was
so funny with all of the Martin Luther King Jr. songs. I have to
find these on Napster!!
A+
WEEKEND
UPDATE with JIMMY FALLON & TINA FEY
OK, Weekend Update was as good as it usually is, but hey, they
try their best don't they? I thought that this one was just OK,
but I do have the biggest celebrity crush on Ms Tina Fey.
B
NELLY
FURTADO
Nelly is very pretty. I thought that her song "I'm Like A
Bird" was great. She hummed a lot though which got very
annoying after awhile. I also downloaded this song live from SNL
on Napster.
A-
PATSY MARCH
Don't get me wrong, I love Molly Shannon, but, aren't all of her
recurring characters the same? In theatre class we learned about
type-casting, which means you get casted as a certain character,
depending on your personality, I guess she is always type-casted.
But, I'm going to miss her when she leaves in a few weeks.
B
GIVING
BIRTH TO A 35 YEAR-OLD MAN
This was an odd sketch, but it was a great idea. I thought that
it had a lot of potential. When Will moved from behind the
hospital bed, he looked naked, but I know that it was just the
umbilical cord. LOL
A-
TGI
FRIDAY'S RESTAURANT
This was a weird sketch. It would have been funnier if Chris
Kattan had been a little bit more sarcastic and didn't keep on
saying "Um, ahh, um..." Or, each should have been
really outrageous and then very calm when he took the order.
B-
THE PERVERT
(AN SNL DIGITAL SHORTCUT)
Who are you kidding? This is just another name for one of SNL's
Short Films. It was stupid!!! Get rid of all of Adam McKay's
Short Films. They are a waste of air time.
F
CLASSIC
VAUDVILLE with CHARLIE & FLEISSY
Oh, the last sketch was one of the funniest of the night. Rachel
Dratch and Charlie Sheen both did a great job in this sketch. It
must have been very hard. I would have cracked up on stage. Also,
Rachel needs to learn how to calm her voice down. It's very
high-pitched and sqeaky.
A+
OVERALL
This show was OK. SNL decided to use Will Ferrell in
just about every sketch. I thought that was pretty annoying.
Tracy Morgan and Chris Parnell could have used some more airtime.
