MICHAEL'S EPISODE REVIEW

FEBRUARY 17, 2001
Sean Hayes/ Shaggy

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: GEORGE W. BUSH
Yet again, Will did a great job as President George W. Bush. I thought that this was a pretty funny sketch. It wasn't as funny as they usually are but I loved how he said that the only reason we bombed Iraq was to get Clinton off the front pages. That was classic. I also loved how he kept messing up the introduction to the show.
A

MONOLOGUE
Sean Hayes acted kind of strange when he first came out. I thought that his jumping around all over the stage was quite annoying though. He did a great job playing the paino also! He was excellent. I loved the interruptions that he kept getting well he was playing and the call on the cell phone.
A

NPR DELICIOUS DISH
Oh jeez! Now, I love Molly Shannon and I know that it was her last show but I thought that they should have had a better script for this sketch. I thought that the content was very boring but the special effects were really good. The only part where I laughed histarically was when Sean said that the mushrooms were only Portabella mushrooms. Haha.
C-

HOMOCIL COMMERCIAL PARODY
I would have preferred to have seen this commercial parody after the monologue but that's okay. This was the funniest commercial parody that I have ever seen on SNL and I think that it was the best one yet!
A+

MSNBC: HARDBALL WITH CHRIS MATTHEWS
This sketch was OK. I thought that the "Hardball" sketch from the Tom Green episode was a lot funnier. Kudos to the makeup artists though for changing Molly Shannon within less than 2 minutes.
B+

JEFFREY'S
This sketch was pretty funny. I figured that they'd do a gay sketch sooner or later because of the huge popularity of "Will & Grace". I think that Sean and Jimmy did a great job and I also loved it when Will answered the little cell phone that was from like a Barbie doll house.
B

SHAGGY - "IT WASN'T ME"
I really am sick of this song but I thought that Shaggy had a great performance.
A

WEEKEND UPDATE with JIMMY FALLON & TINA FEY
Weekend Update hasn't been as good as it was in the beginning of the season. I thought that they jokes were a lot funnier earlier in the season but they did have some good jokes. By the way, I love Tina!!!
A-

HOME SHOPPING NETWORK: HELLO DOLLY
Ugh. I don't understand why they keep showing this sketch. I really don't think that it's that funny. The only parts that I laughed at were the parts where they talked about the names of the dolls.
C

SALLY O'MALLEY
I love this character!! I thought that it was histarical and Molly's camel-toe was the funniest part of the sketch. Also, when Molly sang, I realized what a great voice she has!
A-

SHAGGY - "ANGEL"
I love this song. I think that it is a lot better than "It Wasn't Me". I have a lot more interest in Shaggy now.
A+

NEWS CHANNEL 4: 495 ACCIDENT
Well, this sketch was okay. The only funny part was when 23 clows fit into that little VW. I thought that the writting could have been a little bit better.
B-

MARY KATHERINE GALLAGHER: LAST SHOW
"School's out for summer. School's out forever!" Molly singing Alice Cooper was classic. I loved how she smashed the guitar and said "Last show!!" I'll truly miss her.
A+

BRIAN FELLOW'S SAFARI PLANET
I've always liked this sketch. I think that Tracy does a great job and his lines are histarical.
A

CORN CHIP NAIL TIPS COMMERCIAL
Another commercial that has been repeated over and over. I like this commercial parody but they have to get a better end-of-the show filler.
A

TALKIN' 'BOUT 'GINAS
Hahaha! This sketch had me rolling on the floor. Will Ferrell's Chyna impression and Molly Shannon's Anna Nicole Smith impression were classic. I loved this sketch. By the way, Ana did a great impression of Joan Rivers!
A

OVERALL
This was a pretty good show but I can't wait until I attend next week's!!
